Webinar: Defending Tomorrow: women using the law for climate justice

To mark International Women's Day, this webinar in March 2026 focused on the remarkable work of women who are using legal strategies to confront climate harm and protect communities.

Guest speakers: Professor Beth Goldblatt, Faculty of Law, UTS; Dr Kate Wylie, Executive Director, Doctors for the Environment; and Ariane Wilkinson, Senior Manager, Climate and Energy Policy, WWF-Australia

Professor Beth Goldblatt's research on Australian women climate defenders was shared. Beth interviewed women from all over Australia involved in legal fights to protect Country and reduce emissions.

Dr Kate Wylie shared her experience leading a national climate advocacy organisation in its legal fight against Woodside.

Ariane Wilkinson shared reflections on leading a climate litigation program, as well as advocating directly to Ministers and decision makers to win strong climate laws and policies.

Lawyers for Climate Justice Australia co-director Monica Taylor facilitated the discussion with our fantastic speakers.
